SCBWI Membership Scholarships

SCBWI Utah/Southern Idaho is pleased to announce a select number of SCBWI membership scholarships for creators who identify with the SCBWI definition of marginalized as detailed in the SCBWI Statement of Equity and Inclusion here: https://www.scbwi.org/scbwi-statement-of-intent-on-equity-and-inclusion/.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

 

Eligibility

1) Must be at least 18 years old.

2) Must NOT currently be a member of SCBWI.

3) Must live within the boundaries of the SCBWI Utah/Southern Idaho region: https://www.scbwi.org/region-map/.

4) MUST be (or aspire to be) an author or illustrator of children’s or teen literature.

 

How to Apply

Please email a short bio along with a writing sample or illustration to utahsouthidaho-ic@scbwi.org.

Writers: A 250-word excerpt from the first page(s) of a work-in-progress for children or teens.
Illustrators: 2-5 original illustrations for children or teens.

Please follow these instructions when you email:

Subject line of e-mail: SCBWI Membership Scholarship – [Your name]
Body of the e-mail: Name, E-mail address, Telephone number
Copy and paste your bio and writing sample into the body of the email or attach your illustrations as .jpg files or one .pdf file.

Winners of the scholarships will be notified via email. The number of scholarships granted is dependent upon regional funds.

Once a scholarship is granted, a recipient may reapply again after two years from the date the scholarship is granted.
